After the conduction of my research I have found that the environment and terrain have been effected significantly by the number of people traveling to the mountain each year. Where there were once only 100 people traveling to Everest there are now around 1000 people traveling to the mountain this year, with about half of them staying in Base Camp the entire climbing season making Base Camp into a small city. With the amount of people traveling into Base Camp and up the mountain that brings a lot of trash, and in the early 2000s it was evident that something had to change. It is apparent that Everest was not made to house the number of people that are trekking there, but thankfully people are realizing that if they want to keep the beauty of the mountain something has to be done.
